As of today, Mediacrest and A Contracorriente Films have a shared future in the audiovisual world. After signing a collaboration agreement, the two companies can now benefit from what each has to offer, generating synergies that will enable high-quality products to reach an international audience.

The agreement covers the distribution in Spain and across the world by A Contracorriente Films of Mediacrest’s productions and the co-production of certain fiction content generated by the production company led by Francisco Pou. The adaptation of Carmen Laforet’s novel, ‘Nada’, is one of the first projects in co-production to see the light.

A Contracorriente Films is synonymous with commercial and quality European cinema that has the potential to reach a wide audience. It is the leading Spanish distributor in the cinema industry and also distributes its own films, such as, ‘The Distinguished Citizen’, which won a Goya and enjoyed great success at the 2017 Platino Awards, or ‘The Bookshop”, by Isabel Coixet, with over half a million viewers and winner of the Goya Awards’ Best Film prize. Since 2014, it has been the principal shareholder of the Conde Duque and Verdi cinema chains.

Mediacrest Entertainment is an audiovisual production company based in Barcelona and Madrid. It is committed to harnessing talent and producing quality content, incorporating the industry’s top names in its fiction, documentary and entertainment departments. Recently, two Mediacrest productions (‘Life’ and ‘A House on the Beach’) have been awarded the Spain Film Commission and RTVE’s Playz prizes in the latest edition of Conecta Fiction.

Both companies work with a wide spectrum of television stations and platforms in Spain and with international agreements with the best-known production companies and streaming platforms.
