Mediacrest’s Head of Fiction, Alberto Macías, is bringing in two new additions to reinforce one of the key aspects to Francisco Pou's company: quality fiction that is both creative and groundbreaking.
With the hiring of Carlos Molinero and Paula Sánchez, the production company is committed to combining established players in fiction with emerging talent to compete in an increasingly demanding and changing market.
Carlos Molinero is a screenwriter, author and director with a career that spans 24 years, having created content for film and television for companies such as TVE, Zeppelin, Endemol, Mediapro, DLO and Beta Films. He stands out as a writer for series like La fuga, El comisario, Cuéntame, Querido maestro or Las aventuras de Alatriste. In 2007 he co-directed the documentary La niebla en las palmeras. He was awarded the Goya Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film Salvajes in 2002.
"When I was approached by Mediacrest to join their team, I jumped at the chance. I walked into a place where my passion was recognized and encouraged while also having the chance to work in a relaxing yet stimulating environment. The upcoming series we're working on... well, actually, I better not give anything away."
Paula Sánchez is a screenwriter and one of the up-and-coming talents in Spanish fiction and television. During her brief but successful track record, she stands out as the creator and co-writer of the fiction series "Yrreal", awarded in the short-form category at Conecta Fiction 2020 which is scheduled to air on Playz after the summer. She is also a writer on "Llámalo X," a sex-themed show for Playz. She participated in a debate on the program, Gen Playz. Paula was also selected for DAMA’s 2019 grant to develop her feature film project, "Los demás han muerto."
"I feel extremely lucky to be a part of this amazing fiction team that’s been assembled. Both Alberto Macías and Carlos Molinero are terrific bosses who, while giving us a lot of creative freedom, also teach us a great deal. Our fiction department is a mix of more experienced screenwriters and industry starters, like me. This sort of blend produces interesting synergies in the writers’ room and, currently, we are developing some incredible projects."
Completing this fiction team are screenwriters Nico Romero, Jorge Hernández and Sergio Cámara, documentary filmmaker and film researcher, Caridad Fernández, as well as external collaborators to further support production development.
Mediacrest is currently developing 15 fiction and 18 documentary productions, the latter area headed by Gerardo Olivares.
