Imagine that one day you decide to take that old painting hanging in your living room to an auction house. The expert appraises it at around €1,500.

Then imagine that a mere 24 hours later it’s valued at €300 million. Suddenly, your seemingly worthless painting is about to turn the art world on its head.

This is exactly what happened to an 80-year-old woman in Madrid on April 8, 2021. From that day forward, the events that transpire are packed with all the twists and turns of a real-life thriller.
