On 30 September 2020, Mediacrest has brought onboard one of the most recognized screenwriters in Spain’s audiovisual sector: Alberto Macías. His name is associated with some of the most respected television series in Spain over the last 30 years, such as "La casa de los líos", "Cuéntame", "Servir y proteger", "Brigada Costa del Sol" among many others. He has also written such internationally recognized feature films as "Antigua Vida Mía" (Héctor Olivera, 2001) or "Los aires difíciles" (Gerardo Herrero, 2006). Alberto is also the current president at ALMA, Spain’s screenwriters' union.

Alberto Macías will helm the fiction department at Mediacrest replacing Pablo Barrera, who has launched 14 projects in different stages of development. Both men have already been working together in the development of several of these projects, allowing Alberto to hit the ground running.

The new head of fiction believes that "audiovisual fiction, like the cells in our body, tend to renew completely every certain number of years: new formats, themes, mixed genres, advances in production and new agents all drive this development. We are ever-changing but also remain who we are. As we innovate, we never forget that -in essence- we are storytellers at the service of our audience."

Alberto Macías believes in Mediacrest because of its "firm commitment to renewal, without losing sight of the fact that characters drive the stories and audiences must fall in love with them. They must become invested in what motivates them, their flaws and strengths, their humanity. We want to tell stories about people. So simple yet so challenging."

"I’m coming onboard to a seasoned project, one with firm proposals when it comes to fiction as well as working with an amazing creative team led until now by Pablo Barrera. I appreciate the trust Mediacrest’s management has placed in me. I passionately believe that we have the necessary human talent and technical craft to become a major player in fiction and entertainment in Spain".
