Rodrigo Vázquez debuts as the host of ‘El cazador’

La 1’s popular evening game show, produced by Mediacrest, enters its 8th season with a new host.

Since 3rd May, Rodrigo Vázquez has accompanied chasers Erundino Alonso, Lilit Manukyan, Paz Herrera, David Leo and Ruth de Andrés in a challenge that sees anonymous contestants pitted against five of the country’s most brilliant minds, all fighting to win a big cash prize.


The new host has taken over for the beginning of the eighth season of ‘El cazador’ and following the game show’s high audience figures for its evening slot on La 1, where it has made a name for itself as a leader in entertainment.


A host who’s no stranger to the screen

Rodrigo Vázquez (Orense,1987) is a journalist who has been working for 14 years at TVG, the Galician region’s public broadcaster. In 2014, he began his career as a TV host, having since performed as frontman for a number of the regional station’s different shows: ‘Aquí Galicia’; ‘Oh Happy Day’, ‘O País mais grande do mundo’; ‘Verbenalia’; the game show ‘Ti verás’, for which he won the Mestre Mateo prize for best TV communicator, an award he has received on three different occasions; and the show ‘Quen anda aí?’.


A proven leader

'El cazador' reached record viewing figures last 6 May, with a 12.3% share and 934,000 viewers.


Since it debuted in February 2020, the show’s ratings have progressively improved. In April this year, it registered a 9.2% audience share, with a record average of 803,000 viewers per show.


And what’s more, the first season of ‘La noche de los cazadores’, the show’s prime time spin-off, enjoyed an 8.3% audience share, with an average of 1,057,000 viewers tuning in to each show.
