This week RTVE's Board of Directors has approved production of fiction series 'Demokracia', developed by production company Mediacrest.
'Demokracia' is a drama-thriller created by Rodrigo Martín Antoranz and Pedro García Ríos which tells the story of a young woman at the top of her class of 42 women who were allowed to joined Spain's national police force for the first time in 1979. Assigned to a dangerous precinct in Madrid's Vallecas neighborhood, she'll discover a network of corruption and heroin trafficking run by her superiors as well as learning of a secret plot to overthrow the government. Determined to expose the truth, she infiltrates the corruption ring to bring them down. A thriller that has all the key elements to become a mainstay of Spanish fiction.
'Demokracia' features the transition to democracy as it has never been told before. A crucial moment in Spain's history, a process of deep transformation in a short span of time, but one loaded with tremendous political tensions, important cultural changes and lasting social revolution.
Creators Pedro García Ríos and Rodrigo Martín Antoranz are joined by Paula Sánchez and Joana Ortueta as writers, and Alberto Macías, head of Fiction at Mediacrest, as executive content producer.
